Moving? Thinking about it? Looking for a new home? Selling yours? Then you've stopped in the right place. For over a decade, I have been "Serving People on the Move" in and around the Portland and Southwest Portland area.

Anyone who has ever lived in Oregon knows it is just not like anywhere else in the world. Described as a pristinely clean city, the combination of nature, culture, and unbelievable parks and restaurants has time and again recognized Portland nationally as one of the best places to live in the United States.

A unique thing about me is that I was born and raised in the Portland area. As a "Portland Lifer," I have watched the growth and change of the market and the real estate landscape, and while many things have changed, the basic things about Portland have remained the same. The people, diversity, the ability to be skiing during the day and catching the sunset on the coast at night - nowhere else in the world can you find the vast array of options and wonderful idiosyncrasies that make Portland the Jewel of the Northwest. Here you can find a home, a neighborhood and a lifestyle that is affordable and has the least amount of traffic compared to cities of similar size and stature.

Now I must tell you that I am biased. As I mentioned above, my life story has unfolded in this city and has touched every important life-changing event:

  • Wilson High School graduate - sorry not telling you the year
  • On to the U of O--Go Ducks--majored in the Sociology field because I wanted to help and understand people
  • Out of college, got a job at a leader in the lumber industry (historical note--in case you did not know--yes, lumber was once a leading industry in Oregon). Georgia-Pacific accounting was the beginning of my career. The five years I spent in accounting was time well spent as a foundation for my real estate career

Time stopped in the corporate world for me with the births of my children, but my parenting and volunteer activities kept my skills sharp and ready for my re-entry into the working world. And so it was, once the last baby left the nest I knew what I wanted to do - help people, and specifically, help them with the most important and pivotal purchasing decision that an individual or family can ever make.

Combining my internal goals of "wanting to help people," my accounting and numbers acumen--very uncommon in the average Real Estate Broker -- and my knowledge and love of my hometown, I have carefully built and grown a business. But it is much more than a business to me, it is helping you to know, understand and build a home of your own in my favorite city. Should you need any information on buying, selling or shopping for a home in Portland, call me -- I truly look forward to meeting you and working with you.

Sincerely,

Joanie Montgomery
